Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program (SRDRP)
OverviewThis program aims to provide not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations with funding to re-establish their facilities and activities after extreme natural events, including floods, fire, cyclones and severe storms.
There are two levels of funding available:
1. Level 1
- Up to $5,000 for immediate clean up.
- Applicants can apply up to three months from the date of the DRFA Category A or B disaster.
- Currently Level 1 is activated for the Southern Queensland Bushfires, 6-12 September 2019, for the following locations:
a) Scenic Rim Regional Council limited to: Canungra, Beechmont township, Binna Burra, Illinbah (Tabletop Road) and Sarabah
b) Southern Downs Regional Council limited to: Applethorpe
c) Noosa Shire Council limited to: Peregian Beach and Marcus Beach
d) Sunshine Coast Regional Council: Peregian Beach, Peregian Breeze Estate, Peregian Springs and Weyba Downs.
2. Level 2
- Up to $20,000 for repair, restoration and mitigation support (where DRFA activates its Category C).
- Applicants can apply up to six months from the date of the department’s announcement.
Applicants must contact the program administrator prior to submitting an application.
Eligible applicants include organisations that must:
- Be located in an DRFA Category A to C declared disaster affected area (depending on level of funding requested).
- Be an incorporated local or regional not-for-profit organisation with a primary objective relating to sport and recreation.
- Be a not-for-profit racing or turf club (Level 1 funding only).
- Comply with insurance requirements (Level 2 funding only).

Eligible activities include:
1. Level 1
- Replacement of damaged equipment that directly relates to the re-establishment of activities (including office and canteen equipment).
- Payment of services and hire costs, and purchase of equipment and tools that assist in short term clean-up of facilities.
- Reimbursement for the purchase of the above made from the date of the relevant disaster.
- Funds for repairs and replacements when this amount is lower than the premium excess set by the insurance provider.
- Excess coverage for insurance claims.
2. Level 2
- Mitigating the effect of future damage to the sport and recreation infrastructure due to a similar disaster event.
- Repairing and restoring damage to sport and recreation infrastructure that directly relates to the re-establishment of facilities.
- Replace damaged items that are not covered by Level 1 assistance to restore operations to support the delivery of sport and recreation activities.
